Prepare a 3-5 page requirements document for the system development selected in week two. a requirements document is a compilation of all needs for the development of the system. it is a report that quantifies "what" the project is to accomplish and "why" it is important with respect to overall business needs. it is reflection of your business needs – that is -- what needs to be accomplished to make your business more successful. it does not address the "how", "who" or the "when" components of the project. those questions will be addressed once the "what" is firmly understood. the requirements are implementation neutral -- there is no attempt to fit your business to a technology – but rather it is the first step in molding and fitting technology to your overall business goals. most business requirements are “functional” requirements, which describe the functions the system or process is to perform. please include all four of these types in your ia paper: functional requirements (what must the system do). this should be your biggest section. example: 1.1 the system will allow the user to log on using a secure password 1.2 the system shall allow the user to enter an order 1.3 the system shall allow internal marketing department employees to do an ad hoc search on individual orders, and on orders by location within a date range, and print the results etc. etc... performance requirements (how fast, how many users or transactions, how much information, etc.) reliability and availability requirements (how much of the time should the system be working, what is the cost of downtime, etc.) usability requirements (must information be available in the field, does the system have to support multiple languages such as spanish and english, how skilled or unskilled will the users be, etc.) the "what" component by answering "what" a project is to accomplish, it serves as the scope (that is - how big or small) and as a yardstick to judge the overall success by determining how well these requirements were fulfilled. these requirements are then used to keep projects focused on the real business necessities and to force closure on projects once that business needs have been reached. once these requirements have been agreed upon, any change of scope should be officially approved and any necessary changes made to the implementation plan. this helps prevent "specification creep" - where more and more requirements are added until the project is completely out of control! the "why" component any project will have a number of requirements that fall into the "must have" versus the "nice to have" category. by having the business needs drive the requirements, you will understand how leveraging each requirement is in reaching your overall business goals. requirements essential to the project's success will be quickly identified and appropriate resources can be focused on their successful implementation (sts). hints: please clearly number the requirements, so that they can be used easier later for testing. example: functional requirements - 1.1, 1.2, etc. ; performance requirements 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc. and so on. make your requirements document clear and the requirements easy to measure and test from later.

Prepare a 2-3 page plan for gathering requirements for the system development selected in week two. begin gathering requirements for the project. state any assumptions you make. state the difficulties of gathering the requirements. note 1: this is not the actual requirements (that happens in next week's assignment). this is your plan for gathering requirements, such as identifying who your stakeholders are and what channels you will use to gather info, planning the types of documents and diagrams you would want to use, who will approve the requirements document and what it will contain, etc. note 2: if your project is too simple and does not have very much requirements planning to do, you can either change projects, or add more scope to the project you have. for example, you can add management, finance, or marketing reporting capabilities, or a new system capability to order inventory automatically when certain levels are reached, etc. (if the it project you chose already has enough scope to write about, you don't need to add more).

Select a system for development which would benefit your workplace. prepare a 2-3 page feasibility study of the system development. the goal of your feasibility paper is to convince the project sponsor that this project is worth funding. whatever subject you choose for this feasibility study is also the same subject you will continue to do your future ia papers on, so choose a good one. a plan to study the feasibility of a systems request should explain the background info on the organization and the it project that is proposed, and should cover four key areas: schedule, operational, technical, and economic feasibility (shelly, cashman & rosenblatt, 2004). *format your paper according to apa standards. *please list at least 3 resources/references. this project is 1 out of 4. each project is a continuation of each other and will be utilize the same subject. ****note: the idea is to choose a proposed it project that you can use in this paper and in all the future weekly ia papers. it is important to choose a subject that is substantial enough. an example of a subject not substantial enough is "install a fax machine." some good examples of substantial system development projects that students have used are "improve revenue by implementing an online ordering system", "improve training class effectiveness by implementing an online student survey system and providing reports to management", "improve patient access to information by providing kiosks in the hospital so patients can look up their information and schedule appointments", "create a data warehouse capability to improve marketing efforts", "improve inventory management by moving from a paper system to an automated one." *****

Openoffice writer document form + drawing
Project Posted: Thu, 2 Sep 2010 04:19:50 GMT Project Closes: Thu, 16 Sep 2010 04:19:50 GMT
I would like to use openoffice writer to complete a form which a user will be able to use a small section of it to use select tools to draw over top of an image. for example, there might be a 200x200px box with a picture of a christmas tree, where the user can click on a tool, like box, line, text, and click on the image to mark it. kind of like microsoft paint, except using openoffice. the image will need to save automatically with the writer document, which will use forms. the writer document might look something like this: date: [form input] name: [form input] picture: [background image + simple paint tools to doodle] [save form button] the paint tools will need to be very simple, and alongside the image. a later version of this will require the ability to use a drop-down list to select a different image, which will be the same size, and will swap with what is already showing. if you are fluent with openoffice this may result in additional work for you down the road!

Business plan writer
Project Posted: Wed, 1 Sep 2010 13:23:15 GMT Project Closes: Wed, 15 Sep 2010 13:23:15 GMT
I need a writer for a business plan for internet solution. needs to be able to do some research and be great at writing in english. you need excellent knowledge about internet projects. 1. executive summary: this section must concisely communicate the basics of your entire business plan. keep in mind that your reader may be unfamiliar with the internet and its tremendous potential. 2. business description (required): in this section discuss your firm's product or service along with information about the industry. because your business plan revolves around the internet, spend some time explaining it first. then describe how your product and the internet fit together or complement each other. as with any business plan, consider your audience. if the readers are technically unsophisticated, make sure you include definitions along with any technological terminology. 3.marketing plan (required): with the business described, next you must discuss your target market, identify competitors, describe product advertising, explain product pricing, and discuss delivery and payment mechanisms. 4. customers: you must define who your customers are and how many of them exist on the internet. there are demographic studies by organizations such as the internet society and the internet group that can help you determine this. 5. competitors: use internet search engines to look for known competitors or similar products to yours. be sure to use several search engines, because each uses different search techniques. after you have identified your competitors, perform a new search every few weeks or months. companies are continuously joining the internet. remember, readers of your business plan will be very interested in how you are going to beat the competition. 6. advertising: describe how you are going to tell the internet community about your product or service. 7. pricing: 8. research & development: this is where to get into the technical aspects of the project. address where the project is now, the r&d efforts that will be required to bring it to completion, and a forecast of how much the project will cost. since the internet is continually developing, you should also address continuing plans for r&d. 9. operations: in this section, discuss the major aspects of the business, including daily operations and physical location. 10. management: this segment must address who will be running the business and their expertise. because the business centers around the internet, be sure to discuss the management team's level of internet expertise and where they gained it. 11. risks: in this section, you must define the major risks facing the proposed business. in addition to regular business risks such as downward industry trends, cost overruns, and unexpected entry of competitors, also include risks specific to the internet. for example, be sure to address the issues of computer viruses, hacker intrusions, and unfavorable new policies or legislation. 12. financial (we will do this one) 13. timeline: in this section, you must lay out the steps it will take to make your proposal a reality. when developing this schedule, it might be helpful to talk to other internet businesses to get an idea of how long their internet presences took to establish.
